If there’s anything we’ve learned about iPhones – and smartphones in general – in the past few years, it’s that they’re easy to break. While there are plenty of us that have broken an iPhone screen simply by dropping it on the floor, there are plenty of people that have found much more creative ways to destroy their phones. We’ve rounded up some of our favourite stories of people that have taken breaking their phone to the next level.
Like many unfortunate souls, a man travelling on a high speed French TGV train dropped his phone down the toilet. Naturally, he reached to try and retrieve it – and succeeded in getting his arm completely stuck down the toilet thanks to the train’s 575mph suction system. In the end, the train was delayed for 2 hours and he was (eventually) led off the train with his arm still attached to the toilet. Needless to say, his phone did not survive.
Another girl in London was chatting on her phone in the park during the middle of a phone when she was struck by lightning. Though technically not her fault, being struck by lightning is a sure-fire way to break your phone!
One man, in 2009, managed to break his phone (and his car) by being distracted by a low flying pelican. As a result, he dropped his phone, went to retrieve it, and in doing so drove into a marsh. He was fine, but his car and phone did not live to tell the tale!
There are plenty more broken iPhone stories available; these are just a handful, and although our iPhone repair technicians are experienced, even they would be facing a challenge to repair an iPhone after this lot had finished with it! However, if you are in need of iPhone repair from a standard accident like water damage or you have a broken iPhone screen, the iPhone Surgery offer great value iPhone repair for all models back to the iPhone 3G.
